Cornerstone Robotics announced that it received CE mark approval for its Sentire endoscopic surgical robotic platform.

European approval covers minimally invasive surgical procedures in general surgery, gynecology, thoracic and urology procedures. It marks the introduction of the Hong Kong-based company’s surgical robot to the European market. The system already holds NMPA approval in China.

Cornerstone’s Sentire autonomous endoscopic robotic surgery platform features AI-powered embodied intelligence. It combines clinical workflows with integrated engineering, software and imaging technologies.

The company designed Sentire to ensure consistent, precise movements, minimizing variability and optimizing outcomes. It features cutting-edge control algorithms and real-time feedback to give surgeons confidence in every procedure. Sentire has a responsive design, allowing surgeons to perform complex procedures with fluid, natural movements, enhancing both precision and efficiency.

By minimizing resistance and optimizing ergonomics, Sentire ensures a refined, user-friendly experience that elevates surgical performance, the company says. It has an integrated cold light source and advanced automation algorithms with an anti-fog feature for optimal visibility.

In August 2025, the company announced a breakthrough in surgical automation for the platform in collaboration with researchers at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Then, last November, the company announced a financing round worth $200 million to support its commercial efforts.

Cornerstone says it established an early presence in the UK, partnering with Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU) to conduct clinical evaluations of Sentire and collect real-world data to support adoption. It already conducted training sessions in the UK to establish a foundation for its commercial rollout.

Samuel Au, founder and CEO of Cornerstone Robotics, said:

“Receiving CE Certification marks a major milestone in Cornerstone Robotics’ evolution from a technology innovator to a global clinical solutions provider. From our first clinical investigation in Portsmouth, UK, to achieving European regulatory approval, each step of the journey reflects our commitment to proprietary innovation, product excellence, and clinical value. Looking ahead, we will continue expanding into key global markets and partnering with leading medical institutions to bring high-quality surgical robotic solutions to more physicians and patients worldwide.”
