Italian medtech company WISE has closed an oversubscribed €30 million ($34.8 million) Series D financing round to accelerate development and clinical adoption of its Heron spinal cord stimulation (SCS) system for chronic pain treatment.
The funding, which included participation from ENEA Tech and Biomedical as a strategic partner, will support Heron’s regulatory pathway, first-in-human study, and commercial expansion of WISE’s broader electrode portfolio.
The Heron lead is designed to provide targeted, directional stimulation through a minimally invasive implant approach. By combining the benefits of surgical paddle leads and cylindrical leads, WISE aims to improve energy efficiency, anatomical coverage, neural signal sensing, and reduce lead migration.

WISE CEO Luca Ravagnan said:
“With the Heron lead, we are targeting a multi-billion-euro market with a product that addresses a long-lasting unmet clinical need. This financing gives us the resources to complete the journey from bench to bedside.”
WISE also develops its proprietary Supersonic Technology for soft, flexible implantable electrodes and offers the FDA-cleared WISE Cortical Strip for brain monitoring during neurosurgical procedures.
The investment marks a major step in WISE’s effort to bring next-generation neurotechnology solutions to patients with chronic pain and neurological conditions.
