In Montpellier, the startup ThIA has developed AviPsy, a digital platform designed to streamline access to mental health care. The company, which claims to have supported 30,000 patients, has just completed a €5 million fundraising round.
Designated a major national cause in 2025, mental health is gaining increasing prominence in public debate, with mental health disorders affecting 13 million people each year, or one in five. This comes at a staggering cost to social security: €23.3 billion in 2023, making it the largest expenditure item, surpassing cancer and cardiovascular diseases. If indirect costs are included (sick leave, lost productivity, etc.), the total rises to €163 billion.

Mental health disorders are exploding, particularly among young people aged 18 to 25. Frédérique Mozziconacci, general manager and co-founder in Montpellier, with psychiatrist Yann Quintilla, of ThIA Santé Mentale, believes that “needs are increasing faster than the system’s capacity to respond, waiting times for care often exceed two months, and support is insufficiently organized . ”
After four years of activity, the start-up has just completed a second round of funding of 5 million euros from IRDI Capital Investissement, Sofilaro Innovation, insurers Generali and AG2R la Mondiale, private investors (via the Tudigo platform) and partner practitioners.
