The Recovery Curves software provides population data to HCPs to manage a patient’s total knee arthroplasty after surgery.

Medical data company Canary Medical has launched Canary Quantiles Recovery Curves, its first orthopaedic analytic module.

The new Canary Quantiles Recovery Curves software has been designed to provide additional aggregate population data to healthcare professionals (HCPs) while managing a patient’s total knee arthroplasty (TKA) after surgery.

Based on the patient’s demographics, HCPs can filter or choose additional views to help analyse trends and outcomes.

With the new software, HCPs will be able to see aggregate patient population data for analysing patient recovery progress and outcomes.

The company stated that the recovery curves use movement data, which is measured by its implantable Canturio TE tibial extension sensor technology integrated with Zimmer Biomet ’s Persona IQ – The Smart Knee.

With the extension sensor technology, Persona IQ gathers several activity measures as well as gait parameters for at least ten years.

Recovery curves offer population data for knee kinematics and activity levels by combining the parameters across the Persona IQ patient population.

It also ranks the knee performance of each patient against peers based on gender, age group and time since surgery.

This daily functional information can be used by clinicians to determine whether to augment in-office patient examinations and update their care plans in the year after surgery.

Canary Medical founding member and CEO Bill Hunter said: “Canary Quantiles Recovery Curves are another exciting example of our commitment to providing meaningful data and analysis to surgeons and their patients.

“Improvements in implanted sensors, power and transmission technologies enable more precise measurement and meaningful continuous monitoring to better understand and support patient post-operative care.

“We will soon expand the use of our implantable Canturio technology to other joints and implants, making Persona IQ the first of many Zimmer Biomet products that will benefit from the data our sensors provide.”

Planned releases of the software in the future will streamline office workflows by providing alerts for patients out of defined recovery parameters.

It intends to make this information useful for remote patient monitoring, fulfilling attestation needs, and identifying potential complications and/or adjusting recovery plans.
