Baxter (NYSE:BAX) announced that it launched a digital image capture capability for eye exams using its existing ophthalmoscope.
Deerfield, Illinois-based Baxter added the iExaminer Pro system to its Welch Allyn PanOptic Plus ophthalmoscope. The scope came to Baxter through its $12.5 billion acquisition of Hillrom in 2021. The system adds a key technology to routine eye exams, according to a news release.
iExaminer Pro’s design aims to advance healthcare professionals’ ability to examine and diagnose the eye health of patients. It adds the ability to connect a smart device to capture images for further examination. Baxter said the system enables clinicians to move quickly from an optical exam to adding digital image capture.
When using the scope with iExaminer Pro, clinicians can securely save and share eye images. It enables tracking, trending and initiating more informed consultations with specialists.

The Baxter Welch Allyn MacroView Plus Otoscope has utilized iExaminer Pro technology since 2021. Adding the capability to eye exams reflects the company’s commitment to using connected devices, Baxter said.
