B. Braun already held a minority stake in Goleta, California–based TDS. Its decision to fully acquire the company enables its Aesculap surgical division to add the expertise of the TDS team. This ensures the continuous technological advancement of the Aesculap AEOS, according to a news release. AEOS is one of B. Braun’s core medical products for neurosurgery, spinal surgery and ENT surgery.
With the acquisition, B. Braun plans for TDS to remain as a technology hub at its Goleta location. The company declined to disclose the purchase price for the acquisition.
Dr. Jens von Lackum, member of the B. Braun executive board and the person responsible for the surgical division Aesculap, said of the acquisition: “This strategic move enables us to integrate the cutting-edge technology and innovative capabilities of TDS. By combining the best of both worlds, we can continue to provide our customers with best-in-class systems in robotic assisted 3D microsurgery. We are excited about the potential this acquisition brings and the opportunities to further develop our digital surgical solutions.”
