RefleXion Medical has signed a licensing agreement with Limbus AI to incorporate the latter’s contouring software into its radiotherapy treatment planning system.
The integration of Limbus AI’s Limbus Contour software into RefleXion X1 radiotherapy treatment planning system is aimed at expediting the process of cancer treatment planning.

The manual contouring of tumours and organs at risk (OARs) in radiotherapy planning is a time-intensive task with variability in clinician output. Limbus AI’s Limbus Contour software utilises deep-learning segmentation algorithms to automate this process.
This also helps in reducing human error and ensure more precise radiation delivery.
RefleXion co-founder and chief technology officer Sam Mazin said: “Contouring is one of the most time-consuming tasks in radiotherapy planning, and often contributes to treatment delays.
“We have found Limbus Contour’s AI-driven solution to be a technology leader in speed, accuracy and versatility. Depending on the complexity of the treatment plan, we expect contouring time reductions of up to 80%, thus ensuring that patients receive timely treatment.”
Featuring SCINTIX technology, the RefleXion X1 dual-treatment modality radiotherapy platform is capable of treating patients with various stages of solid tumours.
The integration of Limbus Contour is expected to benefit both biologic and anatomic treatment modalities.
Limbus AI CEO Karl Otto said: “The performance of Limbus Contour software relies on the quality of the CT image. X1 images demonstrate high resolution, exceptional contrast, and minimal noise and motion artifacts.
“This should enhance precision in distinguishing adjacent structures and yield consistent, reliable contouring results, ensuring patients receive the highest quality care possible.”
