Stryker announced that it launched the Synchfix EVT next-generation syndesmotic fixation device.
Portage, Michigan-based Stryker designed Synchfix EVT to simplify surgical deployment while supporting ankle stabilization in patients with syndesmotic disruptions.

According to a news release, ankle syndesmotic injuries can significantly affect patient mobility and recovery. They are commonly associated with sports trauma and ankle fractures, the company says. Synchfix EVT builds on the legacy Synchfix platform to address this. It incorporates design enhancements to reduce procedural complexity, compared to the predicate device.
Synchfix EVT features an all-in-one system that integrates suture tensioning handles within the implant instrumentation. It also has a handle design for one-handed surgical implant deployment. Stryker designed the device to provide a seamless user experience with an ergonomic handle and low-profile titanium medial implant.
The system is intended for soft tissue and bone fixation for ankle syndesmosis disruptions with or without ankle fractures and as an adjunct in connection with hardware for ankle fractures in adult and adolescent patient populations. Stryker also labeled it the first ankle syndesmotic flexible fixation device on the market indicated for use in adolescents.
